IMPACT WITH HOPE (IMPACT) links churches, foundations, medical facilities, health care providers, non-profit organizations, schools, organizations and individuals, as well as local, national and international governments to meet the needs of children and their families in times of disaster. This partnership and network was formed in an effort to increase cooperation, effectiveness, efficiency and accountability among providers as well as recipients. Our successful joint venture has distributed over 3,000 shipments worth over $100 million dollars. To date, IMPACT has distributed more that 187 million servings.
We have all experienced hunger. Hunger is a craving or urgent need for food or a specific nutrient. Not all of us have experienced food insecurity. Food insecure people are those that at some point during the week literally don’t know where their next meal is coming from. Either they can’t afford to buy food or they don’t have access to food. It can be children deep in urban settings, families in rural Appalachia or Toledo, or people who are forced to make the decision between buying medicine or food. (Source: USDA)
In 2012, IMPACT recognized the need for children to have access to nutritious meals. Subsequently, Kids Against Hunger® Toledo became a local satellite operating under the partnership of IMPACT to meet the needs of children in our local area of Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan, as well as throughout the nation and around the world. Since 2012,IMPACT has been involved in finding access to additional meals. After seeking advice from several sources to determine the nutritional requirements of children in the Toledo and surrounding areas, IMPACT, recognized the need to add additional meals. According to 2016 statistics, 78.8% of Toledo Public School students live below poverty level. (Source: Most Current Lucas County Poverty Level)
